Setting Sun Forever Young
It seems that the first week or so of printings of Eskimo Joe’s new album has track five listed as Forever Young. Subsequent printings of the cover art list track five as Setting Sun. Same song, new name. Bizarre. Maybe they didn’t want it to be confused with that song. Which version do you have?
Speaking of versions, I got Like A Version, Version Two.

It has a cover of the Jebediah song Monument, by Gyroscope. This cover is one of my favourite songs of all time. I can just feel the tears of frustration welling in his eyes as he pleads, “I’m supposed to be the one you want”.
It also has the now famous cover of I Was Only 19 by The Herd, which I initially didn’t like all that much, but now realise is pure, pure genius.
Some other tracks that are worth a note are Sophie Koh attempting to cover Creep without knowing the words (yet she still pulls it off okay), Evermore’s appalling rendition of Little Birdy’s Relapse, and some gems by The Mountain Goats, Kate Miller-Heidke, Spoon, and The Eels.
The songs tend to be stripped back, and acoustic, due to them being recorded in a single take in the Triple J studios, which just makes them all the more … good. So if you’re a fan of Aussie music, covers, or lo-fi, you’ll love it all the more.
You look like a feather
In the beautiful world
You’re so special
So very special

Blur Best Of Track Ten
You remember Boy and Girl? The ones that have those nonsensical conversations? Well, I’m thinking of letting them contribute as guest authors here occasionally.
So please be nice to them. Boy is quite shy. I don’t know Girl very well, but no one really does. Please don’t scare them away.

I Could Do Most Anything
At one quarter past eleven in the morning today, my bleary eyed self, wearing the clothes I’d been wearing since Monday, walked out of a room full of people I’d never seen before today, out of a campus that I’d never had a class in, and stood in the filthy city rain and thought that, God willing, I’d never have to step foot inside that university again.
It’s party time, because this page has been left intentionally blank.

TZU + Butterfingers + Sweat
Tim and I went and saw Butterfingers and TZU (again) the other day.
TZU ripped through a disappointingly short, yet insanely good set of their amazing hip-hop/blues/rock. They even kicked off with a couple of new songs, of which I caught a few very witty lyrics. Can’t wait for the new stuff to come out, but I’m guessing it’s a fair way off.

Joelistics. I wanna stalk him. He’s the man.
Butterfingers’ punk-fused hip-hop had the pub more packed than I’ve ever seen it before, with the exception of when Eskimo Joe came to town. They played more straight out punk songs than last time I saw them, and the stuff from the new album sounded good.
I really got into it. Rock still rules my world, but nothing makes me dance as much as some good hip-hop.

What Not To Say
Boy: Girls suck in so many ways.
Girl: Haha, yeah.
Boy: You know it’s funny, because you’re laughing now, but inside you’re thinking “errr, he thinks all girls suck and I’m a girl so he thinks I suck, and he hates me”, which is exactly why girls suck.
Girl: That’s silly.
Boy: It’s true, and if you say it isn’t you’re a liar.
…
Girl: You suck.
Girl: [Leaves]

Black Fingernails Red Wine
So, the new Eskimo Joe album. It’s all already been said really, so I won’t say it again. I love it to bits.

Waking, non-working hours since I puchased Black Fingernails Red Wine: 24.
Number of times listened to Black Fingernails Red Wine: 25.

At the ground
All of us stand and point our fingers
