Coming Up For Air
A beautiful song.
everything in nature moves in waves
watch them extend out in every way
waves of fire sick with flame
waves of water form the ocean’s blame
just to see you go that way
lost from sight and then seen again
your one true wave
your one true way
it always takes you back to the same place
with every minute a mystery
every day was a tragedy
yeah all and every single one
and every minute i spent with you
another minute that i could use
to show you why our time was done
cause i lost you somewhere along the run
farewell the chance that you could be the one
try not to feel let down
get filled up with the pouring rain
or the the wind with its awful sound
or the sun with its simple shame
you know i always will see your face
and i always will say your name
yeah i’ll always remember you
Along the Run, by Art Of Fighting.

In Tent City
No new music in two whole weeks. Well, that’s been set right.
Ryan Adams‘ Love is Hell. I’ve been liking a couple of Ryan Adams’ tracks for a while now, and I thought the album would be worth it. Sounds like it was. Need to get my hands on the rest of his stuff too.
U2’s Rattle and Hum. A very safe bet. Just like the movie, but without the pictures.
William Shatner’s Has Been. Surprisingly good. There’s some forgettable moments, but I don’t think this album is supposed to be taken very seriously anyway.
Tori Amos‘ The Beekeeper. After only a couple of listens, The Beekeeper sounds fantastic - much better than I expected.
Powderfinger’s Odyssey Number Five. Four years ago the theme song from the Commonwealth games was Powderfinger’s The Metre. I absolutely loved the song, but only figured out what it was some time last year. Soon as I knew, I had the Odyssey Number Five album on my list. It’s even better than I remember.

U2, Coldplay, and Gorillaz
For your general entertainment.
I want to hear Radiohead, extraordinary band that they are, on MTV. I want them setting fire to the imaginations of 16-, 15-, 14-year-old kids.
Bono (Via Mr. Luna).
Entertainment Weekly seems to think that Coldplay are as good as, if not better than U2. Coldplay are good, yes, but really. (Via Mr. Luna).
I want a set of Gorillaz toys. (Via Mr. Luna).

AND SKIN THAT FLAKES LIKE ANCIENT PAINT,
SUFFOCATE CONTENTMENT
BIRDS CREEP OVER TIN ROOFS
LIKE CRIMINALS WITH TAP SHOESSTAIN THE GLASS WITH WINDOWS,
EXTORTIONATE AND COLD STARE
WE’RE MUCH PREFERRED CUSTOMERS,
AND HONESTLY I DON’T CARE
In a dream last night I was thinking about stoning girls (as in, taking the seeds out of, like you do with peaches or apricots), making them into soup, and asking my friends if they wanted to eat them.
Now I don’t listen to The Dissociatives as I’m falling asleep.

Losing It
Some of you punters out there may have noted that I had some bandwidth problems for the last few days. Certain subdomain owners just can’t keep their media to themselves.
So, what’s happened in the last few days? Yeah, not much. At uni I was forced to get up the front and explain to the class how to manipulate sets. Forced inasmuch as the lecturer couldn’t make them understand, and I could. If that keeps happening they’re going to have to start paying for it.
Meme-ahoy! Well, don’t I look ultra-cool. Everyone, and I mean everyone - including Zeldman, Oxton, Hicks, Featherstone, Cederholm, Santa Maria, and Inman, just to name a few, have done the ‘musical baton’, in the space of a few days. I did it three months ago.
I came across the first use of the word ‘penis’ in an exam paper question that I’ve ever seen.
Thirteen assessments down for this semester. Four to go. One Week. Bring it on.

Seven Bonus Tracks
Picked up the re-release of Whatever And Ever Amen today. Lately there’s just been a whole lot of Ben Folds goodness around the place.
