Erectile Dysfunctional Nasal Spray
I just got some spam, offering me some herbal drugs that would give me “an erection in twenty minutes”. Now, obviously I can only speak for myself, but I reckon if this is an improvement, and it currently takes you longer than twenty minutes to get an erection, then there’s a lot more wrong with you than what a herbal tablet will fix.

Have A Listen

I picked up a couple of new CDs. The Mountain Goats’ We Shall All Be Healed, which isn’t as good as just John Darnielle playing acoustically with his guitar, but it’s still quite good. While I’m on the topic of the goodness of live music, does anyone share my opinion that Triple J should release all their Live At The Wireless sets on CD?
I also got Sarah Blasko’s The Overture & The Underscore. She’s like Missy Higgins meets Bjork. Less ‘oh-look-at-me-I’m-so-cute’ than Missy Higgins seems to have become post-album though. And a lot less weird than Bjork. Mmmdrum sampling. And that suit thing she’s wearing on the front cover – that’s not real, it’s drawn. I didn’t notice that for ages. It’s cool. Shutup. Small things…

Hawk Down
Australian cricket selectors say one-day rotation policy is disruptive and affects players form, and decide to select the best team from now on.
My gosh. Really? Who could have seen that four years ago? Oh, that’s right – me. And everyone else with half a brain.
Aboouut time.
Of course, rotation helped Michael Clarke out a bit, and we all love Michael Clarke. Even if he is a New South Welshman.

Just For A Mango
A couple of days ago Benj passed the baton on to me to complete on of those quizzy things. Why not, says I.
1. What is the total amount of music files on your computer?
Seventeen random tracks, seven cover songs, and twenty nine Triple J Noise Remix competition winners. I try to be a good boy and not download too much.
2. The last CD you bought is:
Tricky question. I actually bought a heap all at once. But I ordered and paid for one that only just came in recently, which was David McCormack and The Polaroids’ The Truth About Love.
3. What is the song you last listened to before reading this message?
Something by The Killers. Triple J replayed their Live At The Wireless session last night, and I listened to that. I can’t remember which song they closed the show with. Just as I’m typing this however, I’ve started listening to the lastest Mountain Goats record. I like their live acoustic stuff better.
4. Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
The Banquet Table, Parts I, II, and III, by The Paul Colman Trio. Technically three songs, the live version turns out a fifteen minute epic. Musically it does very little for me, but the lyrics and feeling put into singing them is awesome. Sums up ‘the meaning of life’ for me.
U2’s Beautiful Day. The first song I ever downloaded, and the first pop song that I ever loved. Uncanny.
Radiohead’s Creep. Just one of my favourite songs of all time, from one of my favourite albums of all time.
Mr. Brightside by The Killers. Couldn’t stop playing this for a good three months. Only just emerging from the grasp it’s had on me lately. Uncanny, that too.
Not The Same by Ben Folds. Just ‘cause it’s so good.
5. Who are you going to pass this baton on to? (3 persons) and why?
I’d pass it on to Benj, but he passed it to me, so that’d be just silly. I know Benj already passed it to Cally, but she hasn’t done it yet, so I’m passing it on to her as well. She likes the same ish stuff as me, and there’s just something about the music scene over there in Perth. Also Jemma, who does very well surrounded by friends with rather liberal tastes, and Bob, because when he’s sober, he rocks.

Imps
There were storms down in Melbourne a couple of days ago. Every day on the news I hear people (I’m sure it’s only a select few) complaining that they’ve been without power for over a day, and that the power companies aren’t taking their phone calls. One guy even had to throw out half the food in his fridge because it went off.
What are these people thinking? Last month there was a storm (I know, but it was a storm for the purposes of this rant), and hundreds of thousands of people died. And you’re complaining about food going off? Do you think the power companies are deliberately not answering your calls? Do you think maybe they havn’t noticed that the power’s gone out, and they need you to tell them? Do you think they aren’t already trying to fix it?
I mean, settle.

Eighteen Runs
Seen on a banner at the cricket, held by a boy young enough not to have any front teeth:
Gilly, how come my mummy thinks that you’re such a hottie?
