Malteasers
// 16th February
While sitting on the toilet this evening I came up with an idea. Why then? I have no idea.
Many people are using feed aggregators these days, to read weblogs and news sites. Especially since Firefox integrated feed aggregation into their bookmarks. Some CMS have RSS feeds for comments, but they tend to be unweildy. So, here’s my solution. Just add the comments count in the title section of your feeds.

Now readers can quickly assertain whether more discussion has taken place, or new comments have been made since they last read an entry.

Yeah, I am going to do something different with my feeds too regarding to comments, but it’ll be when my redesign goes live.

works good and will prevent me from having the load the page every time i want to check, nice job.

yeah that could work or you could have a separate “feed with comment count in title” feed. will do

been done (a bunch) and consequently has been removed (a bunch). it ups bandwidth and annoys readers when random feeds get marked unread. but props for trying

ak, it won’t up bandwidth unless you call twelve characters a lot of bandwidth. but i do see your point about aggregators sometimes marking old entries unread. i’ve changed so now i have two options, so if it’s a problem people can still subscribe to the orthodox atom feed.

Define laziness:
Requiring useless extra information in an already useless system so you have the luxury of not having to rotate your mouse wheel half a turn.

So the textpattern approach it is, i guess.
