Millencolin
I had a terribly frustrating day. First lecture started at nine AM, then I had to wait around from eleven until one for the next lecture. In the mean time I paid my one hundred and thirty six dollar student services fee, which is another name for ‘we want even more of your money’. The lecturer for the second lecture didn’t turn up (oh how I love my university, such a professional organisation!), so I headed for home, slightly annoyed that I could have been home two hours earlier. After twenty or so kilometres of driving, I found the road closed - two kilometres short of home - and it wouldn’t be open again for another two hours. I should have remembered that it’d be closed, but of course I didn’t. Far be it for me to sit in my unairconditioned car and forty degree heat for two hours, so I headed back into town and went to annoy Tim. I tried the old ‘beat something up’ method, to let off some steam. Trying to let out your frustration on a Milo tin doesn’t work, it just makes you more frustrated.
In fear of contracting depression, I scrambled to the city centre and bought myself a CD.
Nicola Sarcevic’s Lock-Sport-Krock, which I am extremely happy with. I had previously only heard one track - Love Trap - but it was one of the greatest pieces of songwriting I’d come across. Almost made me cry, but for the angry edge it has to it. Point being, my day wasn’t so bad after that.

Everyone’s Favourite Indian
So, university starts again. Aww, come one, you knew this was coming.
I got my distance education pack for Web Based Information Systems in the mail the other day. It’s fantastic, all the notes and readings are included, they gave me a CD with all the software I’ll need, plus all the notes in audio presentation form, so I can sit back and feel like I’m really at the lecture, but this time I actually have a bed to fall asleep in, which is what I’m usually wishing for during lectures. All very good, except that the whole subject is going to teach me absolutely nothing. Sorry, I lie, it’s going to teach me all the stuff I already know - but using crappy technologies. Though in the very last week we get a preview of a new-fangled technology called XML. Hooray!
:/
It gets better. For this subject we have a main forum and seven sub-forums. Why we need that I have no idea. One is even called ‘the lounge’.
Hi everyone,
I’m not in my last year of uni….. :-( Next year I will be though if I get through all this!
I’m doing 333, 357 and 322 this semester.
I live in Tasmania, (but I’m from NSW). I have 3 children, 3, 7, 8. And we’re building a house also! So I better get back to it instead of writing forum posts….
Monicque!
Yes, that was actually the first post in ‘the lounge’. I felt like I’d stumbled accidently into a dating site. Well, good luck Monicque, though I’d hire a builder instead of relying on your kids to build your house.

Bubble Gum
A little while back my brother managaed to pick up a couple of Blue Tongue Lizards without being bitten, which was clever of him because he was once bitten by a dead one (well it was lying dead on the lawn with it’s mouth open). He put them in a quite well-made enclosure together. We probably shouldn’t have been surprised that now there’s suddenly eight of them.

Now isn’t that cute. Or something.
It’s a pity that my camera is useless for taking any sort of decent close up shots. Here’s the rest of the full size photos anyway - hand, twelve centimetres, fingers, hand again, blue tongue, peering at the camera, jurassic park.

I Kill Pigs
There’s an actor, I saw her on an advert on telly. Her name is Melina Kanakaredes. Sounds like some sort of disease.
Nurse: Melina Kanakaredes?
Melina: No, the name’s Smith, I have Kanakaredes. In my liver.

Edit: And posts might cease for a bit, I got a tonne of spam, have to figure out what to do. Might be time for a new CMS.
Edit: I’ve installed Textpattern. I don’t like it as much as b2, but it has some spam protection of sorts. The little bits of the site that need to be updated to complete the changeover (feeds and all that) should be all done by tomorrow sometime. Here’s hoping this was a good idea.

It Just Becomes Me

Starsailor. Silence Is Easy. Fantastic album. And you probably got a teddy bear holding a heart. Ha.

Malteasers
While sitting on the toilet this evening I came up with an idea. Why then? I have no idea.
Many people are using feed aggregators these days, to read weblogs and news sites. Especially since Firefox integrated feed aggregation into their bookmarks. Some CMS have RSS feeds for comments, but they tend to be unweildy. So, here’s my solution. Just add the comments count in the title section of your feeds.

Now readers can quickly assertain whether more discussion has taken place, or new comments have been made since they last read an entry.
