I saw Rocket Science play last night. Unfortunately I was very tired, and yawned my way through most of it, though it was hardly the bands fault. Keeping me on my toes were two redneck middle aged people who were jumping around (dancing?) like they’d had their brains amputated. I would have told him that it wasn’t a disco, but he wouldn’t stand still long enough.
I didn’t know what to expect, having not payed much attention to Rocket Science’s stuff in the past, but they went fairly nuts, especially the lead guy with his keyboard slash theremin setup. Definately worth it, even if you aren’t a big fan.

I don’t know. It could just be me.
That was an experiment. I had to do it. Every time I walked into a CD store I got this vision…

It’s not often I’ll link to the Delta Goodrem Forums. But this thread is worth a read. Keep thinking Australia.

Language Of Us All
My ears were ringing so loud that this morning it woke me up.
Last night I saw The Cat Empire put on a show. The first thing you notice about these guys is that they absolutely love making music. They just want to move. Even the drummer, who started off with his head down (as you would, drumming looks like hard work) had a huge grin on his face by the end of the night. Each song was strung out over five minutes, some more, but it never got boring. One keyboard-intense song went on for over ten minutes, and I was sure the poor guy at the Korg was gonna have his fingers drop off. You got the feeling they didn’t want to ever end a song – they loved it. This could explain why they’ve been touring pretty much non-stop for the last twelve months.
A fantatsic show. At one stage the second vocalist slash trumpet player said, “Hey, let’s listen to some bass.”, and the speaker stack that I was leaning on, which was bigger than my car, nearly blew my shoulder off. By the end my ears were ringing so much I couldn’t see.
The support act was a Melbourne band called Scatterbox. They were halfway between the sound of The Cat Empire and the swinging big band jazz of Jimmy Styles and the Easy Company. They only had one brass instrument, but the lead had this cool style of beatboxing, where she would come in with backing trumpet, trombone, or sax sounds.
Yesterday I was finally mailed Antiskeptic’s More Than Kind 5” single. It has a new track, First Time Out as a B-side. It sounds pretty much like all the rest of Antiskeptic’s stuff, that is, awesome.
Oh, and I picked up The Cat Empire’s album from the gig. So excuse me while I dance like Felix.
