Lest We Play Football
If you watched the ANZAC Day football yesterday you’ll understand exactly what I’m talking about here; they really got confused between football, James Hird and ANZAC Day. Now football is the game I tuned in to watch. ANZAC Day commemorates soldiers who gave their lives in the war. If I’d wanted to go to an ANZAC Day service I would have, but I didn’t. I wanted to watch the football, but instead I got all this emotional crap abut soldiers that didn’t relate to football at all. And then they started on showing the James Hird show. Now, don’t get me wrong, Hird is an excellent player, but it doesn’t warrant the fact he was on the screen over fifty percent of the time. They might as well have put Hird up on a pedestal and had a James-Hird-saves-the-world-commemoration day.

there shouldn’t be football on anzac day.. its a day of national pride.. anzac day is spending your day watching a game that has nothing to do with honoring soldiers…
down with football!

Well, which demographic do you think are going to be the ones who dont turn upto the anzac services? Football watching blokes, and the players (sorry, thats a pretty vast generalization, but you get my meaning) So, TV networks & the football assoc. guys found a good way to make some more money. I’ll agree, its pretty sad.
