what they said:

dear tristan

  • university has recently completed a comprehensive review of its course profile. the course profile review examined the whole course profile with the university with the aim of ensuring that the profile was sustainable, of high quality and closely aligned with the university’s mission and strategic plans.

    the review assessed the course profile against four sets of criteria:

    • academic performance, including quality of intakes, attrition from year 1 to year 2, graduation rates and links to honours and higher degree programs;
    • demand;
    • sustainability, including capacity to support a critical mass of academic staff and capacity to cover current and projected costs; and
    • alignment to university mission, including national and international standing, regional significance and links to research.

    as a result the review the university has determined that there will be no future intakes into the ***** bachelor of applied science (ecotourism)/bachelor of information technology.

    if for any reason you are unable to continue in the course in the normal enrolmant pattern or at the normal rate of progress, or you wish to give consideration to transferring to another course, you should contact your course coordinator. she or he will be able to provide you with assistance.

    yours sincerely,

    (professor) ***** *****

what they meant:

dear tristan

  • university suddenly realised that you are the ONLY person doing the first year of an ecotourism/information technology degree. considering the course’s apparent lack of popularity we have decided to no longer offer it to under-graduates. we’re not officially terminating your degree, as you have already started it, but good luck completeing it with any sort of cohesion

    although we’re about to increase uni fees, it is somewhat unreasonable to think that we would employ any more staff if we can get away with the numbers we have. please direct any complaints about your future to your course coordinator who is about one hundred places down the ladder under myself

    your sincerely,

    (professor) ***** *****

    A review: Antiskeptic’s new album Aurora rocks. The punk factor is not as high as the first album though.

    And tonight’s net50 was something to behold. Check this out …

    1. who’s gonna save us? – the living end
    2. clear to pass – antiskeptic
    3. are you gonna be my girl? – jet
    4. doctor, doctor – gyroscope
    5. nothing to say – antiskeptic

    … I can’t recall a time when two of the top five tracks have been performed by christians. Thinktank’s Braving the Day came in at number twenty two and Audioslave’s Show Me How to Live at number twenty four.

    And why is First it Giveth in the net50? I got that track on CD a year ago…

    Nadine: you can’t go to a Christina Aguilera concert and then go to Livid. The world just doesn’t work like that.

    See what happens when you spill beer on your CDs? You get a new method of remixing music. This Dr. Cameron guy grows mould on optical CDs to randomise errata for some interesting effects.

    These images were manipulated using Garnier self-tanning lotion.
